Three Australian projects have walked away with international Restaurant & Bar Design Awards.

In its fifth year, the awards program is one of the most innovative and prestigious events in the hospitality and design world.

Three Australian Design firms have been named as winners.

Winning the Australia & Pacific (Restaurant) category was The Century in Sydney designed by Paring Onions. Located in The Star casino. According to Paring onions website "The interior concept playfully incorporates symbolisms of Chinese culinary culture with a modern twist. It was critical to keep the Golden Century's unique history and culture in mind, but also an opportunity to introduce a refreshing side of the group, inspired by a creative take on Chinese dining customs."

Winning the Australia & Pacific (Bar) category was Alfred & Constance located in Fortitude Valley designed by Alexander Lotersztain of Derlot, Queensland comprising of several dining areas and bars – each with a different theme – the interiors are an eclectic journey.

The Third Wave Kiosk located at the Torquay Foreshore designed by Tony Hobba Architects won in the Canteen category. According to their website, Tony Hobba Architects says, “This project was inspired by the eroding forces of the ocean. The skin of rusting steel piles driven into the dunes provides a canvas for the expression of these natural forces. The oxiding patina nestles into the coastal scape, suggesting a piece of washed up furniture, maybe cobbled together with found materials.”

Overall, the Best Restaurant went to Höst in Denmark designed by Norm Architects and the Best Bar was taken out by Atrium Champagne Bar in London designed by Foster and Partners.
