Artist and all-round top bloke Samuel Tupou opens his latest exhibition SITE SEER at Onespace Gallery this Saturday 4th November. You may recognise Sam as co-head honcho of Brisbane's Poly Gone Cowboy Screen Printing Shop, and former big cheese at the MOFO artspace in Cairns.
This recent batch of work continues his experiments with colour, patterning and form and the art encompass themes revolving around cross-cultural identity, migration, culture clash, decoration, memory, the value of contemporary images and office supply cupboards (I made that last one up).
Sam's artwork is always engaging and tends to give the viewer a boost of positive energy. A catalogue accompanies the show in which essayist Simon Brigden states "The artist and viewer are intertwined as site seers within this exhibition, travelling across times, cultures, and places in defining Samuel Tupou and pinpointing the world they inhabit."
Onespace is located in Highgate Hill, Brisbane. The opening runs from 4-6pm Saturday 4th November.
