Hold on to your hats, Field Trip is taking the Powerpoint out of presentation and putting the live back in action. Featuring the talents of the Jacky Winter roster, Field Trip is a creative conference unlike any other.
A collaboration between the home-grown creative powerhouse, The Jacky Winter Group, and creative community Australian INfront (that's us), the inaugural Field Trip will take place Friday, April 20 at ACMI in Melbourne. Field Trip will feature seven artists from The Jacky Winter Group, artists who work with vector graphics and traditional illustration, motion graphics, photography and 3D, all presenting their work and ways of working in a unique live format.
The bastard child of an outdoor music festival and a live cooking demonstration, each presenter will be performing a unique 'act' exclusive to Field Trip to explore the creative process from start to finish. New work will be created from the ground up and existing briefs laid out on a slab and dissected. Mistakes will be made, secrets revealed, and there’ll be collaborations aplenty.
But why?
Creative conferences are a neat way to meet some of your heroes and learn more about them, but we couldn’t help but feel that some conferences were lacking in, ah, fibre.
While it's all well and good to hear from your favourite designers and the like in terms of their process, influences, and portfolio, we wanted to dig a little deeper. So often you look at a speaker’s mind bending work and all you want to know is “how the hell did they make that?”
Come to Field Trip and you’ll find out. Actually, we’ll do you one better and show you.
Through live video feeds and screencasts, the audience will gain a direct insight into the tools, processes, and thoughts of some of the most successful commercial artists working in Australia today.
Featuring:
Beci Orpin · Jeremy Ley · 21-19 · Travis Price · Tin&Ed · Tong & Danny · Toby & Pete
Each presenter is allocated approx 45 mins, followed by a brief Q&A.
It could be great. It could go horribly wrong. We're betting on the former. Either way, it will be something new and never done before. We're pretty excited about it, and we think you will be too.
For tickets, schedules and much more, head on over to our website at thefieldtrip.com.au. We will be heading to Sydney later in the year with a fresh new line-up too.
