Brisbane design students/graduates/hunters—if you feel like a last-minute deadline to get your folio sorted, or at least reviewed by a panel of design heavyweights, then come along to Griffith QCA tonight… Details from AGDA below:
OBJECTIVE / FOLIO NIGHT
Tuesday 26 August
5:30pm for a 6pm start, approx. 8:30pm close
S02 Webb Centre Building, Level 7 foyer and balcony
Queensland College of Art, Griffith University
226 Grey Street South Bank
Heading to interviews armed with a folio, a qualification and with boundless enthusiasm, and leaving wondering just how well it went? Embarking on a job hunt & want to ensure you nail it when “that” interview comes along? Here’s your chance to discuss various approaches with a range of employers – it’ll be far from the folio reviews and interview ‘hot tips’ you’ve heard so far.
Our Objective panel of mentors aren’t your ordinary folio reviewers. They are Brisbane Design Heavyweights prepared to dive into their recruitment process with you, rather than watching you sink or swim. Bring along something other than your folio to kick off a conversation about how you can represent yourself as an emerging designer, something you would bring to an interview if you were brave enough! Push the envelope a little & bring something that defines your design philosophy, portrays your work ethic, something that represents your dream job, or symbolises the studio that’s driven you to design.
The night aims to de-mystify what employers want from their junior applicants. Groups led by our hand picked Objective team will discuss the good, the bad and the just plain ill advised, aiming to replace typical interview nerves, second-guessing and fear with good humour, hope and spirit!
Who should attend?
If you’re a student or graduate of a Design diploma or degree, or a new recruit looking at your next career move, this event will give you a serious confidence kick. Come along if you’re up for invaluable insights, constructive but encouraging feedback, a good laugh and a great night.
Book early! Don’t miss the chance to meet prospective employers and get into their headspace before you get into your job search.
