1 - Mr Trent Whitehead, I haven't heard too much from you over the last two or so years - has your studio work got the best of you?
Ha! I can’t say it got the best of me as I enjoy both exhibiting art and the clients / projects I work on through Always Studio. But there’s been a lot of change in my life over the last 2 and a half years, I've had the pleasure of being a Dad x2. So there were a few things that needed to be altered to keep me out of a stale 9 to 5 office job. Job done!!!
2 - Speaking of Always Studio - How is that going? I see you have done some illustration work for surf/skate heavyweight Globe.
The studio work is always great and super busy. I appreciate the mixture of work between design, illustration, installations and art direction. Globe has been a client for a few years now and there always after some interesting and challenging work.
3 - Word on the street is that you're doing some work with RVCA. How did that come about?
It all started with a simple email to a buddy who worked at RVCA (Matty B), well I found out he moved on but anyway he requested I email Steve who was the man to contact at RVCA AUS and its been full steam ahead since then. And lovin it!!
4 - Don't suppose you look up to Dmote as a influence? I understand that he does quite a bit of work with RVCA.
I wouldn’t say influence but defiantly look up too, who wouldn’t, his one of the great talents to come out of oz. From my understanding he was, or is working for RVCA over in the states.
5 - Who are you main influences both growing up and today?
Growing up I would say everyone and everything, can’t really refine it into who as people. Today I would have to say my little girls Coco Jean and Stevie Bee be at the top of the list. Then I have a bunch of super creative mates who influence me a lot to keep on keeping on.
6 - Who is going to be the next big thing - both in design and in the art world?
Ah shit I dunno know… cant answer that.
7 - When will we see some new artworks?
Ill have a new piece in a group show for The Hours launch at the end of March in Sydney. Also a few ideas have been tossed around for a 2 or 3 man show towards the end of year. I'm really looking forward to producing a new body of work.
8 - Enough about that - Tell us a good story! Something with cops, running and a happy ending - not that kind of happy ending!
hahaha my lips are sealed on this one.
9 - Anyone you wanna shout out to?
Tom Selieck, for obtaining a place in my heart.
10 - Just like Marty passed us onto yourself - you will need to again pass us onto someone else! New rule though - Can be from the same state! So how about it?
Sure thing.. Ed Woodley would be your man.
