Actually the other way around. They said one of the best ways of promoting your brand is by promoting the work of others. For example, they said that Semi Permanent was an excellent way to create a strong brand by promoting a group of speakers, but effectively spoke volumes about the people behind the brand.
They also used the example of their magazine Demo, which promoted the work of musicians and artists, but effectively allowed their work to be seen.

Loved that, just the kick in the ass I needed.
Love how these guys have started their business with the bar set up high. "We're creative directors". Hiring Troyt Coburn to shoot sexy women for a calendar job? Top shelf!
I only wish I started my business with the bar raised so high to begin with, it might have eliminated all the climbing I had to do in my own company!
