I use Adobe Bridge to categorise my images.
I do this by adding keywords to them, that are categories (like horizon, vintage, bright, dancing, etc.)
and then create "Smart Collections" that are searching for 'only images' with that keyword.
This is OK to a point, but when I upgrade computers of software versions it seems I have to start over again, or some things are retained and some things aren't.
Is there any software or other tricks to managing your own image library that are more reliable and user friendly?
this seems to have limitations as the thumbnails are tiny, so not great if your using filters/categories to browse images to choose. Also it seems like adding 2 tags to a search at once, doesn't show results for both tags, but instead only shows results that have both tags applied to it.
The concept is great though so I've emailed mihand to ask if there are any ways I can tweak this.
