Brisbane rates for Freelance Senior Graphic Designer?

Hi everyone,
Just signed up so I could post this. I am a Senior Graphic Designer from London. I moved to Brisbane around 4 days ago and have had a brief look online for freelance roles/ full time positions and can’t seem to see much that has excited me yet. They all seem rather low on the full time pay front ($40,000-$50,000).
I have 7+ years of various agency experience (marketing, editorial, branding and packaging). Spent the last 2 years freelancing with no dry spells for various companies around London earning between £200-£300 a day ($330-$500). Although £300 a day was only at one particular agency and it was more often only a weeks work at a time but was on £250 a day for 4 months prior to leaving the UK taking lead on a large pharmaceutical packaging job.
I realise that Brisbane won’t quite have the same market as London but wanted to know from anyone who has freelanced here how a) they found work and b) how much they charged.
I was thinking of going in with a $420 day rate and a $60 hourly rate. Not sure if this is too low or high though?
I specialise in branding/ packaging but have done all sorts of marketing pieces for Chrysler, JVC, Merell Shoes, Nickelodeon, MTV and a tonne more. My website is two years out of date and is only for personal projects due to contracts I have had to sign when working for other agencies. I do intend to update this over the next month or two though.
Thanks for reading.
George

Hi James,
Thanks for the quick response. So far so good apart from the weather! One of the main reasons I moved was for the sunshine...
Yeah, I feared that it would be a bit of a stretch. I was recommended to someone at getartisan on LinkedIn so will hopefully hear from them soon to ask them some questions.
I’m beginning to feel Sydney would be a safer bet for work even despite property prices being insane. London isn’t much cheaper to be fair and I coped there just fine.
Where abouts are you based now?
